fire starters

12 Feb

Ladies, it’s February.  Time to check your fire.  And we don’t just want smoke from a smoldering log, we want flames: after all, it’s time for Valentine’s Day!
Actually, all of February is National Marriage Month.  Did you know that?  I’m not sure why a month already devoted to so much romance was designated marriage month.  (Why not August or October, perhaps?)  Regardless, though we’re focusing on Single-Mindedness on the rest of ylcf.org this month, you’ll always find a marriage focus here on Just for Married Ladies–February or not!
But back to that fire (the marriage relationship).  How is yours burning?  FamilyLife Today had a great program on “Romance in the Rain” this week (February 8-9).  Dennis Rainey talked about “fire starters” such as time and focus.  And he reminded us out that fires go out when they are not tended well
The point that hit home?  “If you are wondering why there isn’t much romance in your marriage, take a step back and ask how much fresh fuel have you brought to that fire?” (emphasis mine).
Go take a listen to both part 1 and part 2 of “Feed the Fire of Romance” on FamilyLife Today.  Then be sure you’ve made your  preparations for a fiery Valentine’s Day with your hubby.  And if they’re not too scandalous, share them here in the comments!

For three weeks leading up to this weekend, I spent every spare minute scrapbooking our honeymoon pictures for my husband. It had been 4 1/2 years and I was just now getting them into an album. I knew this would bless him because his love language is quality time – not only was I spending a lot of TIME making the gift (which really blesses him), but I was helping us to be able to go back and remember good TIMES together. It was hard to keep it a secret for so long, but it was all worth it when I surprised him last night. It definitely lit some fires. LOL
